It seems that we have turned a corner. Gov. Cuomo has retreated a bit on Common Core, though he is still holding fast to teacher evaluations being tied to its tests. Two members of the New York State Board of Regents have, likely due in part to the massive Opt-Out movement, reversed course on standards and testing. Charter Schools have been ruled unconstitutional in Washington State. The voices of teachers and parents are becoming stronger, as the forces of privatization, politicization and homogenization of public education are falling back on the defensive. Let’s add to the noise. What do you think? You can read my recent blog on the subject to facilitate the discussion. I just hope I can get the hang of this newfangled thing so we can discuss it!
